“Regarding Maiquetía, Venezuela’s main airport serving Caracas, he reiterated that one of the runways has already been repaired, but another suffered more severe damage, and its repair phase “is going to take a significant amount of time.”
“Maiquetía Airport concentrates a little more than 70% of national and international operations,” Garcés underlined.
The airport reactivated its operations with temporary terminals on September 1, after its main facilities were severely affected by the earthquakes.
At least 19 airlines, 11 of them international, are operating in the temporary terminals, including Spanish carriers Air Europa, Iberia, and Plus Ultra, Portuguese TAP, American American Airlines, Panamanian Copa Airlines, Colombian Avianca, and LATAM Colombia (a subsidiary of the Chilean LATAM Airlines).”
Two earthquakes back to back, the first one with a magnitude of 7,2 and the second one with a magnitude of 7,5.
